Snapchat Story Viewer

What this Snapchat story viewer does

TapDownload's Snapchat story viewer shows a public profile's story, highlights and Spotlight videos in your browser. Type the @username and every public snap appears, ready to watch or save. You never log in to Snapchat, so your account can't appear in their list of viewers. Private stories stay private.

TapDownload is a free website that saves public Snapchat Spotlight videos, stories and highlights from their link. It is not affiliated with Snap Inc. Page checked and updated 31 October 2026.

It runs in your browser, on any phone or computer. Some people call the app Snap; this works the same as a Snap story viewer. Snapchat publishes public stories on snapchat.com, where anyone can watch them without an account. This viewer opens those same public pages for you and lays them out so they're easy to watch: the current story, every highlight, and the creator's Spotlight videos, each in its own tab. Nothing is hidden or unlocked. If a story isn't public, it isn't here.

How to view a Snapchat story without the app

1. Find the @username. Creators usually show it on their profile and in their Spotlight videos. Or, in Snapchat, open their profile, tap Share, then Copy link.
2. Type it in the box above and tap View. A profile link works too, and so does pasting a whole share message: the link is picked out for you.
3. Watch. The story, highlights and Spotlight videos appear in tabs, with a count for each. Tap any snap to play it. Use the Photos and Videos filter to show one kind at a time.

It works the same on iPhone, Android and a computer, in any modern browser. You don't need the Snapchat app installed, and you don't need an account.

Is it anonymous? What they can and can't see

How to view a Snapchat story anonymously

This is how to view someone's Snapchat story anonymously, as long as their profile is public:

1. Don't open the story in the Snapchat app while logged in. That adds your name to their viewer list.
2. Type their public @username into the box at the top of this page and tap View.
3. Watch the story here. You're viewing the public snapchat.com page, with no account attached.

When you watch a story inside the Snapchat app, your name goes into the owner's viewer list. Snapchat's help page on public stories says the "friends, followers, and other Snapchatters who viewed your Story are listed under Viewers". That includes people who aren't friends, as long as they watched while logged in.

This viewer works differently. It opens the public page on snapchat.com without a Snapchat account, so no username is attached to the visit and your name can't appear in that list. In that sense it is an anonymous Snapchat story viewer: no account, no name, no login.

Can you view a private Snapchat story?

No. A private story, a friends-only story, or a story shared with a custom list is never published on snapchat.com. It only exists inside the app for the people it was shared with. No website can open it, including this one.

The same goes for a private account. If you want to know how to view someone's private story on Snapchat, the only honest answer is to ask them to add you as a friend. A Snapchat story viewer for a private account doesn't exist. You'll find sites that advertise a "private Snapchat story viewer". They can't do what they promise. The usual pattern is a page that asks you to complete surveys, install an app, or enter a Snapchat username and password. Never give your Snapchat login to a third-party site. TapDownload never asks for it.

How long do public stories stay up?

Snapchat's privacy page says most stories are set to delete after 24 hours "unless you change the settings, save the Story to your Public Profile, or you or a Friend saves it in Chat." Public profiles often keep snaps longer, and highlights stay until the creator removes them.

So a creator's story from earlier in the week may still be there. For more on finding older snaps, see how to view old Snapchat stories.

View public Snapchat stories, and save them

• Public stories: the profile's current story, snap by snap, photos and videos.
• Highlights: every story the creator pinned to their profile. Highlight photos open at full size, 1242 x 2208 or 1320 x 2346 in our tests.
• Spotlight videos: the creator's public Spotlight posts, with sound.
• Saving is optional: tap Save on any snap to keep it as an MP4 or JPG, or use Download several to save a whole story as a ZIP. Story videos are 480 x 852 MP4 files, the size Snapchat serves.

It's a Snapchat story downloader and viewer in one: viewing and saving are the same tool. If you mostly want files rather than watching, the Snapchat story downloader page covers saving in more detail.
