About TapDownload

What is TapDownload?
TapDownload is a free website that saves public Snapchat Spotlight videos, stories and highlights from their link. You paste a snapchat.com link or type a public @username, and you get the photos and videos as JPG and MP4 files. There's no app to install, no account, and no Snapchat login. TapDownload is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Snap Inc.
How does TapDownload test files?
- We read what a logged-out visitor sees. TapDownload only fetches public pages on snapchat.com, the same ones anyone can open in a browser without signing in. It identifies itself as
TapDownloadBotand never pretends to be a person. - We measure the real files. When our guides give a size, such as 540 x 960 for a Spotlight video or 1242 x 2208 for a highlight photo, it comes from files we actually downloaded, and the guide says on which date.
- We don't claim what we can't show. No "HD" labels on files that aren't, no promises about private stories, and no made-up user counts or reviews. When Snapchat doesn't document something, our guides say so.

Where do the guide facts come from?
- In-app steps (menus, buttons, settings) come from Snapchat's own help center, help.snapchat.com, and Snap's privacy center. Each guide lists its sources and the date we checked them.
- File sizes and formats come from our own test downloads, with dates.
- Search questions come from keyword research, so the guides answer what people actually ask.
Snapchat changes its app often. If a step in one of our guides no longer matches your app, tell us and we'll check it again.
How do I report a mistake?
If something on this site is wrong or out of date, write to us at the address below with the page and what you saw. We check it, fix the page, and change its "Checked and updated" date. When a fix changes a number, the test log above gets a new line.
What TapDownload doesn't do
- It doesn't log in to Snapchat or ask for your password.
- It doesn't open private or friends-only stories, chats, Memories or Lives.
- It doesn't store the files you save: they pass from Snapchat's servers to your device.
- It doesn't run ads or trackers.
Fair use
Save your own snaps, or ask the person who made them first. Reposting someone else's photos or videos without permission can break copyright law and Snapchat's Terms of Service. Our terms explain how to ask us to take something down.
