The short version
TapDownload doesn't have accounts, doesn't store the photos and videos you save, and never asks for your Snapchat login.
What we keep
- A hashed IP address, for up to an hour. To stop one visitor from flooding the service, we count requests per visitor. The count is filed under a scrambled (keyed hash) version of your IP address, never the address itself, and deleted within an hour.
- The Snapchat pages you ask for, for five minutes. When you paste a link, our server fetches that public Snapchat page and remembers what it found for five minutes, so the same page isn't fetched twice. The cache holds the page's public media links, not your IP address.
- A daily count of files saved. One number per day, used to show how many files were saved this week. It holds no IP addresses, links or file names.
- Standard server logs. Our web host keeps ordinary access logs (IP address, time, page requested) for security and troubleshooting, under its own retention rules.
What we don't keep
- The photos and videos you save. They pass from Snapchat's servers through ours to your device and are never written to disk.
- Your Snapchat username or password. TapDownload never asks for them.
- A list of what you saved.
Cookies and tracking
TapDownload sets no cookies and runs no analytics or ad scripts. Fonts and icons are served from our own server. When results appear, thumbnails and video previews load directly from Snapchat's media servers (sc-cdn.net), which receive your IP address the same way they would if you opened the post on snapchat.com.
